- In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, water, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
- If desired, mix cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to make a slurry and add it to the sauce to thicken.
- Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce is slightly thickened.
- Remove from heat and let cool before using as a marinade for meats, a glaze for grilled vegetables, or a dipping sauce for sushi.
