Teriyaki Sauce:

Ingredients
  

  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 clove garlic minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated ginger
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch optional, for thickening

Method
 

  1. In a saucepan, combine soy sauce, water, brown sugar, honey, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat.
  3. If desired, mix cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to make a slurry and add it to the sauce to thicken.
  4. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until the sauce is slightly thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool before using as a marinade for meats, a glaze for grilled vegetables, or a dipping sauce for sushi.
