Hawaiian BBQ Meatballs

These juicy meatballs simmer in a tangy BBQ–pineapple glaze that tastes like a mini island vacation. Serve them over rice, as sliders, or straight from the slow cooker with toothpicks.

Ingredients
  

  • lbs frozen meatballs beef or turkey
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce
  • ½ cup pineapple juice
  • ½ cup crushed pineapple drained
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp ground ginger
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions or sesame seeds

Method
 

Heat Meatballs:
  1. Place meatballs in a large skillet or saucepan over medium heat.
Make the Sauce:
  1. In a bowl, whisk together BBQ sauce, pineapple juice, crushed pineapple, brown sugar, soy sauce, ketchup, garlic powder, and ginger.
Simmer:
  1. Pour sauce over meatballs. Bring to a gentle simmer and cook 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sauce thickens and meatballs are heated through.
Serve:
  1. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds if desired. Serve hot.

Notes

Slow Cooker Option: Add everything to a crockpot and cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours.
Spicy kick: Add sriracha, chili flakes, or diced jalapeños.
Extra glaze: Let sauce reduce uncovered for the last 5 minutes.
Serving ideas: Great over jasmine rice, in slider buns, or as party appetizers.
