Ingredients

  • 12 oz spaghetti
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley chopped (for garnish)
Optional Add-Ins:
  • 1 cup cooked chicken shrimp, or mushrooms
  • A pinch of nutmeg for depth

Equipment

  • Large Pot:
  • Skillet
  • Tongs
  • Grater

Method

Cook the Spaghetti
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook spaghetti according to package directions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain.
Make the Alfredo Sauce
  1. In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Pour in the heavy cream and simmer for 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add Cheese
  1. Reduce heat to low and stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with salt and black pepper.
Combine & Serve
  1. Add cooked spaghetti to the sauce and toss until well coated. If needed, add a splash of reserved pasta water for creamier consistency.
  2. Garnish with chopped parsley and serve warm.

Notes

Freshly grated Parmesan melts smoother than pre-shredded cheese.
Reheat gently: Warm over low heat with a splash of milk or cream to revive the sauce.
Add protein: Grilled chicken, shrimp, or sautéed mushrooms make it a full meal.
