Ingredients

  • 4 cups 950ml water
  • 4 tbsp Thai tea mix ChaTraMue or other brand
  • 4 tbsp sugar adjust to taste
  • 2 tbsp sweetened condensed milk
  • 4 tbsp evaporated milk or half-and-half
  • Ice cubes for serving

Method

  1. Boil the Water – In a medium pot, bring the water to a boil.
  2. Steep the Tea – Add Thai tea mix and stir. Reduce heat, simmer for 3 minutes, then remove from heat.
  3. Sweeten – Stir in the sugar until dissolved.
  4. Strain – Pour the tea through a fine mesh strainer or tea sock into a heatproof pitcher to remove tea leaves.
  5. Cool – Let the tea cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled.
  6. Serve – Fill a glass with ice. Pour chilled tea until about ¾ full. Add ½ tbsp sweetened condensed milk and 1 tbsp evaporated milk (or to taste) on top. Stir before drinking.

Notes

For extra richness, use more sweetened condensed milk and skip sugar.
If you like it less sweet, reduce the condensed milk and sugar slightly.
Thai tea mix already contains spices and coloring, so no need to add more unless you want extra flavor (like star anise or vanilla).
For a vegan version, use coconut condensed milk and oat milk.
