Ingredients

  • 1 lb kielbasa sausage sliced into 1/2-inch pieces
  • 1 lb fresh green beans trimmed (or frozen green beans, thawed)
  • 1 medium onion thinly sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika optional
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or butter optional, for sautéing

Method

  1. (Optional) In a skillet over medium heat, sauté kielbasa slices for 3–4 minutes until lightly browned for extra flavor. This step can be skipped for convenience.
  2. Place green beans, onion, and garlic in the crockpot.
  3. Add the browned kielbasa on top.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together chicken broth, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, black pepper, and smoked paprika.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the ingredients in the crockpot.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours, until green beans are tender and flavors meld.
  7. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.

Notes

Using fresh green beans gives the best texture, but frozen works well in a pinch.
Sautéing the kielbasa before slow cooking adds a nice caramelized flavor but isn’t mandatory.
Serve with crusty bread, rice, or mashed potatoes for a complete meal.
Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
