Dissolve Jello:
- In a mixing bowl, combine lime Jell-O with 1 cup boiling water. Stir until fully dissolved (about 2 minutes).
Add Alcohol:
- Stir in cold water, tequila, and triple sec (if using). Mix well.
Pour into Cups:
- Arrange shot cups on a tray and pour mixture evenly into them.
Chill:
- Refrigerate for 2–3 hours or until firm.
Decorate:
- Before serving, run a lime wedge around each rim and dip in coarse salt (or sugar for a sweeter twist). Garnish with mini lime wedges if desired.
Notes
For stronger shots, increase tequila to ¾ cup and reduce cold water slightly.
Try swapping lime Jell-O for strawberry or mango for fruity margarita versions.
If serving outdoors, keep shots chilled on ice to maintain texture.
For a “layered look,” pour half the mixture, let set, then add a second flavored Jell-O layer with tequila.
