Ingredients
Method
Cook the Sausage:
- In a skillet over medium heat, cook the Jimmy Dean sausage until browned and crumbled. Drain excess grease and set aside.
Prepare the Bread Base:
- Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Spread cubed bread evenly in the dish. Sprinkle cooked sausage over the bread.
Add Cheese:
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the sausage layer.
Mix the Egg Mixture:
- In a large bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour evenly over the bread, sausage, and cheese.
Chill (Optional):
- For best flavor and texture, cover and refrigerate the casserole for at least 1 hour or overnight to let the bread absorb the egg mixture.
Bake:
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes, or until the center is set and the top is golden brown.
Serve:
- Let cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy!
