Method
Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
Make Bottom Layer:
- In a bowl, mix the chocolate cake mix, egg, and melted butter until thick. Press evenly into the bottom of the prepared dish.
Make Gooey Top Layer:
- Beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs, cocoa powder, vanilla, and mix until blended. Slowly add powdered sugar, then pour in melted butter. Beat until fully combined.
Assemble the Cake:
- Pour the gooey mixture over the cake layer and spread evenly.
Bake:
- Bake for 40–45 minutes. The center should still jiggle slightly—don’t overbake!
Cool & Serve:
- Let cool at least 30 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or room temperature.
Notes
Even gooier? Slightly underbake for maximum gooeyness.
Topping idea: Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream or drizzle with warm fudge.
