Ingredients
Method
Preheat Oven:
- Heat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prep Rutabaga:
- Peel rutabagas and cut into fry-shaped sticks, roughly the size of traditional fries.
Season:
- In a large bowl, toss rutabaga fries with olive oil, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper until evenly coated.
Bake:
- Spread fries in a single layer on the baking sheet. Bake 25–30 minutes, turning halfway through, until golden brown and slightly crispy.
Serve:
- Sprinkle with parsley or grated Parmesan if desired. Serve warm with ketchup, aioli, or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
Cutting fries evenly ensures they cook uniformly.
For extra crispiness, soak cut rutabagas in cold water for 15 minutes, then pat dry before seasoning.
Air fryer method: cook at 400°F (200°C) for 20–22 minutes, shaking halfway.
Rutabaga fries have a slightly sweet flavor — pair them with spicy dipping sauces like sriracha mayo for contrast.
