Ingredients

  • 1 can refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup pizza sauce
  • 1/2 cup mini pepperoni or cooked sausage optional
  • 1/4 cup diced bell peppers or mushrooms optional
  • Olive oil or cooking spray
  • Italian seasoning optional
  • Heavy-duty foil 4 large sheets

Method

Prepare Dough:
  1. Unroll the pizza or crescent dough and cut into 4 equal rectangles. Lightly stretch each piece.
Assemble Pockets:
  1. On half of each dough piece, spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce. Add cheese and toppings of your choice. Fold the dough over to form a pocket and pinch edges to seal tightly.
Wrap in Foil:
  1. Lightly spray foil with cooking spray or brush with olive oil. Place each pizza pocket in the center and fold foil to seal completely.
Cook Over Campfire:
  1. Place foil packs over campfire coals or on a grill grate (not in open flames). Cook for 10–12 minutes, flipping once halfway through, until dough is cooked and golden.
Serve Carefully:
  1. Let cool for 2–3 minutes before opening. Be cautious of steam and melted cheese!

Notes

Make it your way: Use any toppings—just don’t overstuff or they’ll leak.
Crispier crust: Place pockets in a pie iron or use a grilling pan for a crunchier texture.
Kid tip: Let little ones pick their own fillings for a fun mealtime activity.
No fire? Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 12–15 minutes in the oven.
