Ingredients
Method
- Prep Strawberries:
- Wash, hull, and thoroughly dry strawberries. Thread 2 strawberries per skewer (or as desired).
- Make Sugar Syrup:
- In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves. Then let boil without stirring until it reaches 300°F (150°C) on a candy thermometer (hard crack stage).
- Coat the Strawberries:
- Quickly dip each strawberry skewer into the hot syrup, letting excess drip off. Place skewers on parchment paper to cool.
- Optional Garnish:
- While syrup is still sticky, sprinkle lightly with sesame seeds if desired.
- Cool Completely:
- Allow candied coating to harden completely before serving. Enjoy immediately for the best crunch.
Notes
Work Quickly: Sugar syrup hardens fast; have strawberries ready before boiling.
Safety First: Hot sugar can burn; handle with care. Use a candy thermometer for accuracy.
Storage: Best eaten same day. Can be stored briefly at room temp, but coating may become sticky.
Flavor Twist: Try blueberries, grapes, or small tangerine segments for variety.
