Ingredients
  

  • 4 cups fresh pitted cherries or use frozen, thawed
  • 1 box yellow or white cake mix
  • ½ cup unsalted butter melted
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar optional, for tart cherries
  • ½ tsp almond extract optional, for flavor boost
  • Vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for topping optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Spread cherries evenly in a greased 9x13-inch baking dish. Sprinkle with sugar and almond extract if using.
  3. Sprinkle dry cake mix evenly over cherries—do not stir.
  4. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the cake mix.
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes until top is golden brown and bubbly.
  6. Serve warm with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
