Ingredients
  

  • 4 slices of thick bread brioche, challah, or sandwich bread
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • Optional toppings: powdered sugar maple syrup, fresh berries, whipped cream

Method
 

Prepare the Bread:
  1. Using a heart-shaped cookie cutter, cut each slice of bread into a heart shape.
Make the Egg Mixture:
  1. In a shallow bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt.
Dip the Bread:
  1. Dip each heart-shaped slice into the egg mixture, coating both sides thoroughly but not soaking too long.
Cook the French Toast:
  1. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and melt butter. Cook each slice 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
Serve:
  1. Plate the French toast and top with powdered sugar, maple syrup, fresh berries, or whipped cream as desired.

Notes

Extra Flavor: Add a pinch of nutmeg or a splash of orange extract to the egg mixture.
